From 16 February to 25 February 2017, 6 students of the Marketing Techniques Department, 3 colleagues working in the Marketing Techniques Department at the Sénart and Le Havre universities, the head of the department I am working in, Jérôme Lacoeuilhe, the manager, Antoine Meter, and I were in Colombia in order to sign an agreement to make effective the partnership with the Simón Bolivar University, to discover the Sergio Arboleda University and Colombia and to think about the possibility to organise, in the future, student and professor exchanges. We also met Doniphane Meslier, former student at the Marketing Techniques Department in charge of the international relations at the Simón Bolivar University.

We have been delighted by the warm and professional greeting we were offered. We often had the possibility to talk with professors, members of the International Relations Department and the Colombian university rector. Shows and tours were organized for our arrival. We therefore had the possibility to discover the cultural richness of the city and its surroundings as well as the importance of the harbor of Barranquilla. In the period preceding the Carnival festival, we could grasp the importance of this event. In effect, Barranquilla Carnival is claimed to be the second largest in the world after Rio de Janeiro. We also had the chance to stay in this city during the carnival. We could confront our point of views, share our competences by giving and also attending lessons at the Simón Bolivar University.

The agreements were thus signed between UPEC and the Simón Bolivar University in an atmosphere of conviviality, fraternity and mutual respect. We hope that these agreements will be the starting point for many university exchanges, student and professor mobility and will increase the number of French students preparing an International university diploma in technological studies (DUETI – diplôme d’université d’études technologiques internationals). The agreement is the starting point to a new and fruitful collaboration.
