They met Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, President of the AIT, and John Dolan, City Mayor, at the Athlone Institute of Technology, located in the heart of the Republic of Ireland. Over 5,200 students study at the Institute, including 200 international students. Jean-Pierre Thébault, French Ambassador in Ireland, was also present to visit the institution after the 21 Erasmus+ Partnership Agreements were signed between the French institutions and Athlone Institute of Technology. These agreements enable Athlone to welcome approximately fifty French students for 2016-2017.
Various aspects of French-Irish ties (historical, economic and cultural) were highlighted by the Ambassador at a conference hosted by the Mr. Owen Ross, Dean of the Management Faculty. Fourteen DUETI program students from the MT Department at Sénart-Fontainebleau IUT currently studying at AIT were also present, following the renewal of the agreement between the 2 Institutes this year.
