“I didn’t like… nothing!”

What are the main differences you observed between UPEC and your university?

UPEC is very practice-oriented: you work in small groups, you are invited to participate. Teachers seem to be more available than in Italy, where studies focus more on theory. I think there’s too much distance in Italy, between teachers and students. Here you can ask questions for example. I really like this relationship.

Why UPEC?
I chose UPEC so that I could discover Paris, but at UPEC, I also discovered a friendly atmosphere, with many international students.

A funny story about your stay?
Once, my friends and I played 'Guess my name' during a workshop at Sénart-Fontainebleau. It was pretty funny.

Spare time in Paris?
Now that courses are over, I visit a lot of museums, castles… But on regular days, I like to go out, and eat with friends. With EIAP [Echanges Internationaux A Paris], I met a lot of international people, and we did picnics and “apéros”. I did a lot of trips across France.

What did you gain from your stay?
First of all I learned French, which I couldn’t speak when I first arrived. I also think I grew up, since I had to fend for myself for everything. When I come home, I will share my experiences, the mood, the people I met, the parties…

A tip for foreign students?
Spend a lot of time with French people. Go out and don’t be afraid. Just give it a try!
