DIM One Health 2.0

The DIM One Health 2.0 project, which was certified by the Paris region in February 2022, aims to promote research that integrates human, environmental, and animal health, particularly relating to pathogens. The research is to be structured based on two areas that include aspects of pure, medical, and social sciences.

Following a call to identify research projects led by multidisciplinary teams in fields of major interest, the One Health 2.0 project, led by Inserm and supported by UPEC, was one of nine such selected projects out of 33 submitted.

The DIM One Health 2.0 project in infectious diseases aims to lead a community of infectious disease physicians on screening, and therapeutic and preventive solutions for infectious diseases in humans and animals, with a sociological component working on how these solutions can be accepted in society.

The project aims to promote research that integrates human, environmental, and animal health, particularly relating to pathogens. The research is to be structured based on two areas that include aspects of pure, medical, and social sciences.

The project is the result of a series of consultations with the DIM1HEALTH Scientific Board (2016-2021) and the lessons learned, which yielded significant scientific data, opening up the prospect of new studies to address the threats and challenges of infectious diseases in the Paris region.

Led by Inserm and with Professor Jean-Daniel Lelièvre as its scientific director, the project is fully supported by UPEC, for whom infectious diseases are a major economic and scientific challenge. The concept of "one world, one health" provides fertile ground for a number of original research avenues combining human and animal microbiology, and sociology. The Covid-19 crisis highlighted this. UPEC has committed to sitting on the DIM project's Board of Directors and to actively participating in the implementation of its actions.

Fields of Major Interest (DIMs) in the Paris Region

With this initiative, the Paris region continues its support for large research projects carried out by multidisciplinary teams around scientific fields of major interest.
By virtue of their theme, size, and excellence, they aim to achieve high European and international visibility.

These networks will bring together the best research teams in the field and the most innovative companies to work on ambitious research programs.
This association of companies will be reflected in the governance of the initiative to ensure that existing and future links between academic research laboratories and companies are taken into account from the outset.
